Civil Engineer

Four Waters Engineering is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Jacksonville Beach headquarters. The candidate will work with project leaders on various aspects of civil engineering assignments including site grading design, paving design, utility design, stormwater management design, preparation of calculation packages, cost estimating, and development of construction plan packages. This position involves participating in a broad variety of civil assignments including modeling and analyses of hydrologic and hydraulic systems.

 

Typical responsibilities may include the following:

  • Perform design, modeling, analysis, and permitting for municipal and land development engineering projects.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other topographic or geologic data to plan projects.
  • Design water distribution and wastewater collection systems and perform calculations to size those systems.
  • Assist in all aspects of stormwater design including hydraulic analyses, drainage control system design, water quality improvement design, and erosion and sedimentation control.
  • Understand and apply applicable regulations (FDEP, FDOT, WMDs, USACE, and local governments and utilities), demonstrate compliance with appropriate design criteria, and process applications through permitting agencies.
  • Utilize various design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and ICPR4 to assist with the design and preparation of construction plans.
  • Prepare cost estimates, reports, and technical memos.
  • Take the lead in developing design approaches and concepts on assigned projects and request assistance from available technical staff when needed.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, subconsultants, regulatory agencies, utilities, and contractors.

 

Key Attributes for your success in this role are:

  • Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering software, with demonstrated experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and hydraulic/hydrologic modeling software (such as ICPR4).
  • Experience with detailed site layout and grading; drainage and stormwater management design; utility design; and erosion and sediment control design.
  • Good communication (written and verbal), teamwork skills and the flexibility to complete a wide range of tasks including field work.
  • Initiative and ability to tackle new projects and other challenges regularly.

 

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of civil engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • FL Professional Engineer or ability to obtain certification within one year.
