Engineering resilient utility solutions

The LS2 replacement included developing a new CCUA triplex standard design with above-grade piping, upgraded electrical and controls, and flood-resilient construction. Improvements include a 10-foot-diameter, 23.5-foot deep wet well, rerouted gravity sewer and forcemain connections, a new generator, and protective site features.

As part of the conceptual design, 4Waters developed a calibrated hydraulic model of the manifolded forcemain system, including LS2 and six other connected lift stations, to evaluate existing and proposed conditions. The analysis identified operational conflicts caused by an undersized 8-inch forcemain segment. To support LS2’s increased triplex pump capacity of 1.4 MGD and improve overall system reliability, 3,900 linear feet of 12-inch forcemain was also designed by 4Waters to replace the 8-inch segment.
