4Waters Evaluates Technical and Financial Viability of Grand Turk Water Supply System
Financial and Technical Review
The system relied on a reverse osmosis (RO) seawater desalination plant to provide potable water to the island. Due to limited treatment capacity, the RO system could not supply water 24 hours per day. During peak demand periods, water service was only available at select times, highlighting the need for system expansion to meet current and future needs.
4Waters reviewed the RO system’s operations and maintenance history, assessing its current value and remaining life, and estimating future replacement and maintenance costs. The team also provided an opinion on the design and technical merits of the planned RO system expansion to help ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations.
